Metamorphosis – Cocoon - Installation 2016-2017
Cocoon ... A transformative object.
»It sways gently in the wind, and while the old forms, structures (and thoughts) dissolve and the embryonic mesh is restructured, it gives no indication
of what is unfolding inside.«
(Ami Ronnberg, “Schmetterling/Motte”, Das Buch der Symbole, p. 234, TASCHEN)
In this case, the symbol stands for the state of helplessness and hopelessness. There is no physical or intellectual leeway whatsoever … The path to a new life,
to a new period of worldly existence seems fundamentally blocked.
And yet it is a necessary path. But how to pursue it?
The artist’s contemplation of her Asian roots, with their mystical and spiritual ties, can be an untapped source of power. Through it, the impossible becomes
possible and can be actualized. The path out of an almost unimaginable constraint becomes real. Freedom ... for thoughts, deeds and dreams.
Cocoon« is to be presented as a free-standing object in the space,
ensuring a direct connection and visual link to the video performance
(endless loop without sound) and to the four photographs that
are hung one beneath the other/next to each other.
