The Inuit story of »Skeleton Woman« by Clarissa Pinkola Estés is a central theme of my work. The story tells about self-love, life energy, our inherent self-healing powers
and how we can reconnect with them. My installation is a
self-portrait in which I am not physically present.

Time and space for retreat and tranquillity were needed for an identification with, and an exploration of, the insight that
a profound feeling of love and the almost boundless trust
in another person that goes along with it can be an attempt
at liberation from a dark period in one’s life.
This space is represented by the artist as a »grotto« –
a tomb could also be inferred. Daytime and nighttime
scenes show not only the lightness but also the heaviness associated with this exploration. The two phases of this
exploration are presented through photographs of
a grotto at day and night.
