Metamorphosis – Caterpillar – Projection 2017
Info
The projection allows the viewer to consider the »skin
of the caterpillar« – a spiral-shaped stuffed object made
by hand from cotton and paper yarns and patched up
with bandages and lace – in an atmosphere of
ambiguousness created through light and shade. Depending on the observer’s position and distance, the form of the caterpillar appears larger or smaller. It sways at the slightest movement and turns around its axis, depicting the individual phases of the artist’s self-exploration, which unfolds throughout her continued, ever-individual development.
The »Caterpillar« is suspended at a defined distance
to the wall and illuminated using a concealed spotlight.
